12TH KOREAN AMBASSADO’S CUP TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP.

The 12th edition of the Republic of Korea Ambassador’s cup championship took place at the Korean community sports complex.

The president elect of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation, Frederick Lartey Otu in his open remarks said.

“ Yesterday saw l successful executives board election after five years of suspension due to unwarranted court injunction that yielded nothing for the applicant except huge cost for both sides. For God being so good, l was overwhelmingly elected by congress for next four years.

“I here by declared that, my administration is open to all Taekwondo practitioners. We have been welcoming and we continue to welcome those who are ready to respect the World Taekwondo status in the GTF constitution.

“Secondly, the 12th Korean Ambassador’s cup championships makes a new beginning for Taekwondo in Ghana after two years of inactive and inclusion of Taekwondo clubs as a results of Covid-19 pandemic.

“The theme for the championship is therefore “Taekwado beyond Covid-19”.

For the GTF, this theme place a new foundation for grater cooperating between the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korea community in general on one side and the GTF on other side”.

The GTF believe that, there are more opportunities to explore for a greater promotion of Korean Ghana culture reasons with the respect to youth development, trade and entrepreneurship with Taekwondo at the center.

“I must say that the organizing committee has done a great job. The Ambassador’s cup will give many athletes who could not participate in today’s championship the opportunity to participate in the subsequent championships”. He added.

The Ambassador of Republic of Korea to Ghana, His excellency Lim Jung-Taek, also in his opening remarks said.

“ It’s my great pleasure and honor to host Koreans Ambassador’s cup Taekwado championship today. I send my warming welcome to the members of the Taekwado family gathered here today.

I express my deep appreciation to Mr. Fredrick Lartey Otu president of the GTA and GTA members who took the effort to make today’s championship possible.

“The Taekwado championship was put to hold because of the Covid-19 pandemic. After a long waiting, we are finally holding this championship again.”

“ Ladies and gentlemen, today’s champion is one of the event celebrating The 45th anniversary of Korea Ghana relationship. On this note l congratulate the Taekwado family in Ghana for their achievements.

I believe today’s championships will provide contestants opportunity to demonstrate their skills.

Lastly, l like to ensure you, the Korea Embassy in Ghana in collaboration with the GTF will make all necessary effort to provide support to promote Taekwado in Ghana.“
